"I loved the small atmosphere of the family owned veinard. The lunch stop was great we stopped for a simple sandwich that was raisonnable priced. The stop at the dom perignion Abby and the rein cathedral where highlights of the tour. The driver and guide was amazing friendly, knowledgeable and always had a smile ."

How the Small Group Champagne Tour Works
Four steps from Paris hotel pickup to 6 tastings at two contrasting Maisons — with sommelier guidance throughout.
Paris Hotel Pickup ~7:30 AM (Max 8 Guests)
Hotel pickup window 7:00–8:00 AM at central Paris hotels. 8-seat minivan with sommelier-driver. The small-group cap means everyone gets a window seat and direct access to the guide for the 1h30 drive.
Grande Maison Visit + 3-Cuvée Tasting
First stop ~10 AM: a grande Maison cellar — typically Moët, Mercier, Castellane or Pommery depending on the operator. 90-min tour: facade, cellars, riddling racks, and a 3-cuvée guided tasting (NV Brut, Rosé, Vintage).
Vigneron Lunch + 3 More Tastings
Lunch (~12:30 PM) at a family vigneron in the Vallée de la Marne or Côte des Blancs — 3 courses (charcuterie, vigneron-style stew, chaource cheese) paired with 3 of the family's own cuvées. The vigneron joins the table for the explanation.
Vineyard Walk + Return to Paris
Post-lunch: a 30-min vineyard walk among the vigneron's parcels (Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay, or Pinot Noir depending on village). Departure ~4 PM, arrival back in central Paris around 7 PM. 11-hour total day.

What Visitors Say
"The tour visited the Cathedrale de Reims, a small champagne grower (Delaunois Chanez) and a big one (Nicolas Feuillate) with tastings at both. We passed through village of Hautvilliers past the gravesite of Dom Perignon, and enjoyed walking in fields of pinot meunier above Cumières in the Marme Valley, eating some leftover grapes. Our guide, Frankie, was knowledgeable and charming. The tours of both champagne houses were interesting, but we liked hearing from Élodie, the owner of Delaunois Chanez the best. If you get a chance, buy some champagne from her, because it’s not exported to the U.S."
"Amazing experience on a day trip exploring and tasting a variety of champagnes! Our guide was so friendly and nice, and also an excellent driver. Definitely recommend if you’re visiting France!"
"The trip was great! We enjoyed learning about the entire process of making champagne. Jean was a great guide. He was very knowledgeable. It is a full day (12 - 13 hours) though...so make sure to account for traffic in your trip if you have plans afterwards. Overall, we had a good time!"
"Nicolas is the best guide! We had the best time on this tour. Unexpectedly, we stopped at a few French gothic churches which were breathtaking. Notre Dame Reime is even larger than Notre Dame in Paris and we had plenty of time to explore there on our way to the tasting tour. Each Champagne maker was incredibly informative and we loved the full sized "samples" we received at each location. We highly recommend this tour!!"

Practical answers for the 8-guest small-group day-trip format.
Max 8 guests on the lead tour (319 reviews, 4.87★). Some operators cap at 6 or even 4 for premium small-group tours. Compare to standard day trips (12–16 guests) and large bus tours (30+). The small cap is the entire point — sommelier access, window seats, real conversation.
Same logistics: Paris hotel pickup, 2 Maison/grower visits, vigneron lunch, return same day. Differences: smaller minivan (vs motor-coach), more guide accessibility (1:8 ratio vs 1:16), often slightly longer at each stop (the smaller group moves faster through reception/coat-check), and sometimes premium Maison choices.
Lead small-group tour is $268 vs Paris day trip $379 — counterintuitive but explained by Maison choice. The small-group lead tour visits 6 tastings (vs 8), 1 grande Maison + 1 grower (vs 1 grande + larger Vigneron lunch logistics). Smaller scale = lower per-person Maison entry costs. Both formats are legitimate.
Paris hotel pickup window 7:00–8:00 AM. 8-seat minivan. ~1h30 to Champagne via A4. First stop ~10 AM (grande Maison cellar). Lunch ~12:30 PM (vigneron). Second stop ~2:30 PM. Departure from Champagne ~4 PM. Return to central Paris ~7 PM.
On the lead small-group operator, yes — the driver-guide holds a sommelier diploma (Diplôme d'Aptitude à la Fonction de Sommelier or equivalent). Their job is to explain the tastings, not just navigate. For premium small-group tours, the sommelier is non-negotiable; for budget small-group tours, the guide is general (still knowledgeable, but not certified).
Yes — most small-group operators visit Moët, Mercier, or Pommery for the grande Maison stop, then a family vigneron in the Vallée de la Marne for the second. Different operators rotate, so the specific Maison varies. Confirm at booking if a specific Maison is essential (e.g. you want Moët, not Mercier).
3 courses at a family vigneron in the Vallée de la Marne or Côte des Blancs — typically charcuterie starter, vigneron-style main (boeuf bourguignon, coq au vin, or saumon en croûte), chaource cheese course. 3 of the family's own wines paired. The small group (8 guests) sits at one table; the vigneron joins for the explanation.
Small group ($268/person, max 8): shared minivan, shared lunch table, shared schedule. Private tour ($400/person for 2 pax, $800/group): your own vehicle, your own table, your own schedule with chauffeur-sommelier on call. Private is better for special occasions; small-group is the sweet spot for solo travellers, couples, or 3-4 friends who do not need full privacy.
Yes — half-day options exist for Reims-based or Épernay-based pickups (4–5 hours, 1 Maison + lunch, ~$180–$220). For Paris-departure, half-day is impractical because the drive alone is 3 hours round-trip.
Small-group operators typically run with as few as 2 guests, sometimes 4 minimum. If your date has under-minimum bookings, the operator may reschedule or refund. Confirm minimum-numbers policy at booking. The shoulder season (April, October–November) sees more low-count days.
